At RRS Truck Repair, we regularly provide maintenance services for truck drivers – is it time that you dropped in for some maintenance? Here are a few signs that it might be time to come in and pay us a visit!
We all know that lights on your dashboard aren’t there for decoration, but sometimes we ignore them a little longer than we should. If the lights on your truck’s dash are on – whether it’s an oil change, tire pressure, or check engine light, it’s time to see a reputable mechanic who can help you to determine what the problem is and how to fix it.
If you do notice a light come on on your dash, head in to your mechanic ASAP and don’t put it off until the problem is much worth than it needs to be – that will cost you!
There are a few problems that you might encounter with your truck when it comes to your brakes. It may be that your brake light popped up on the dash or it may be something a little more complex. Since your safety and the safety of everyone else on the road depends on the state of your brakes, it’s incredibly important that you get your brakes seen to asap – a lot of lives hang in the balance.
If you regularly drive any vehicle, you know what that vehicle sounds like. If your truck starts to sound different for any reason, it’s time to head in and see your mechanic. What kind of noise should you watch out for? Anything that sounds out of the norm for your vehicle is a good reason to visit your mechanic to give your truck the maintenance it deserves!
Some common noises that you might notice include –
Are your truck tires wearing on the sides? Are your tires wearing heavily or unevenly? If your tires are wearing in an unusual way, it’s time to get to your mechanic’s shop! The most likely scenario is that your truck alignment needs realigning. As your tires wear quickly and unusually, you are going to need to replace your tires more frequently and that’s going to cost you a lot of money. In the meantime, you are going to see a drastic change in your gas mileage.
If your truck is a powerful beast but lately you have noticed that your truck is having trouble getting going, it’s time to see your mechanic. The chances are that you’re looking at something simple enough, but it could be something more significant that needs addressing right away.
No matter what the symptom is, this is something that you have to get addressed immediately or you risk much more significant issues.
Leaking anything from your semi is a good sign that you need to get your truck into the shop. You might notice water inside your cab, or you may notice leaking from underneath your truck. It’s possible for any number of fluids to leak from your truck and leaking fluids are always a concern. With every leak, your truck is losing valuable fluids and if your leak gets bad enough, you might even see your truck seize up completely because too many crucial fluids have been drained.
There are multiple things that can influence the color of the exhaust smoke of your truck, but it’s never a good idea to let a change in the color of your truck smoke go unaddressed.
You may notice a burst of black smoke when you first start up the engine or you may notice blueish smoke or excessive white smoke. All of these colors indicate something different that needs addressing!
