When a tractor, box truck, or trailer breaks down in Gastonia, Red Rover Service brings the repair to you. We’re a mobile diesel and fleet repair company, so there’s no tow and no shop bay to wait for. Our technicians fix commercial trucks and trailers where they sit: on the shoulder of I-85, in a truck court at Gateway85, at a plant in Gastonia Technology Park, or at your own yard off Franklin Boulevard.
Call 704-317-6161 to reach a live dispatcher Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 6 PM, or Friday, 8 AM to 5:30 PM ET. You can also request a quote online.
Red Rover Service is a family-owned business run by founder Matthew Lally, a truck mechanic with more than 20 years in the industry. He started the company in 2020 with one service truck. Today we serve fleets across the Carolinas from our base at 4000-D Sardis Church Road in Monroe. We’re an A+ rated, BBB-accredited business, and our customers have given us 4.7 stars across 155 Google reviews.
We work only on commercial vehicles: medium- and heavy-duty trucks, semis, and trailers. That includes gas, diesel, and propane trucks and refrigerated units. We don’t service pickups or personal cars, so our techs, tools, and parts are all set up for the equipment Gastonia businesses actually run.
Gastonia is the county seat of Gaston County and the biggest city on the west side of the Charlotte region. Gaston County is part of our regular service area, and our techs come in on US-74 and I-85, the same routes your trucks use to reach Charlotte.
Gastonia’s freight runs along I-85 and the old textile corridors that grew up around it. Most of our calls here come from:
The fleets here include regional freight and parcel carriers, food distribution, manufacturers running their own trucks, building supply, and contractors. We work with all of them, from the owner-operator with one truck to the fleet manager with fifty.
Our techs handle most repairs on-site in Gastonia:

Because Gastonia is one of our longer drives, scheduled work is the best way to use us here. Our fleet management programs put each truck on a schedule and bring the service to your yard, so you don’t have to send units across Charlotte to a shop. Programs include:
Fleets enrolled in a maintenance program get discounted rates, and the more vehicles you enroll, the more you save. We plan the visit, batch several units in one trip, and can do your annual DOT inspections at the same time.
Road service is billed Port-to-Port, with no minimum, no call-out fee, and no mileage charges. You pay our hourly labor rate and one flat $75 fuel charge per call, plus parts, shop supplies, and taxes. That matters when you’re about 40 miles from our base: the drive doesn’t add a mileage line to your invoice. We give you the price up front, so there are no surprises.
Bigger repair? Financing is available for qualified customers, subject to credit approval. Ask dispatch when you call.
We cover the rest of Gaston County and the towns around it from the same Sardis Church Road base:

Our base at 4000-D Sardis Church Road in Monroe is about 40 road miles from downtown Gastonia, usually by way of US-74 and I-85. Gastonia is one of the longer drives in our service area. For emergency repairs our typical ETA is 60 to 90 minutes, and Gastonia calls can run toward the top of that range depending on traffic and workload. We’ll give you an honest ETA when you call.
Yes. Truck courts and loading docks are where we do most of our work. Give us the building address, the door or trailer spot, and any guard-shack instructions, and the tech will come straight to the unit.
Usually not. Flat tires, no-starts, dead batteries, air leaks, and most electrical problems can be fixed on the shoulder. Tell dispatch your direction of travel and the nearest exit, from Exit 13 at Edgewood Road to Exit 23 at McAdenville. If the problem truly can’t be fixed roadside, we’ll tell you right away.
No. Road service is billed Port-to-Port with no minimum, no call-out fee, and no mileage charges, so the drive across Mecklenburg County doesn’t show up on your invoice. You pay our hourly labor rate, one flat $75 fuel charge per call, plus parts, shop supplies, and taxes. Fleets that want regular service in Gastonia usually get the most out of a scheduled maintenance program.
